Urticaria
Urticaria is one of the skin problem which people come across as one of the skin reaction. Urticaria is also known as hives or nettle rash. The symptoms may look like skin becomes red, itchy and sometimes even swollen. Urticaria occurs on the upper layer of the skin. The weals appear on the skin in different size and it can appear anywhere on the body. It is normally observed that Urticaria is caused mostly because of the histamine. As mentioned that Urticaria is a skin reaction, but this skin reaction is caused because of either food or drug or latex. Angioedema, itching and hay fever are some of the other symptoms seen along with Urticaria. Acetic acid, butyl alcohol, benzophenones, cinnamic acid phenol, beer, cider, wine, enzymes, melon, beef, apricot, pineapple, food color, food preservatives, emulsifiers, insect bites or stings, antibiotics like penicillin, ibuprofen or codeine, neomycin, streptomycin, pollen, rubbing of skin, menthol, butyric acid.
Urticaria Treatment
- Aloe vera is applied on the skin to treat urticaria. It soothes the skin and cools the burning sensation on the skin. It is also found from studies that Aloe vera helps in tissue regeneration.
- Cabbage leaf needs to be applied on the affected area.
- Sliced onion may also help
- Heartsese is used as a skin wash.
- For itchy rashes Urtica urens is given as a medicine, Apis is given when the skin is found swellon, puffed and burning pain, Natrum mur and Pulsatilla are the homeopathic medicine given for urticaria problems.
- Calamine lotion and Witch hazel is used as OTC remedy.
- Antihistamines, steroids an emollients are the medicine.
- Bicarbonate of soda is also used in treating Urticaria.
- The pH of the skin is restored and maintained by cider vinegar.
- Ice packs may help to relieve from itching.
Sneezing
Sneezing occurs because of the irritation in the respiratory track. It can be either because of allergic rhinitis or some irritable substance like pepper or dust. Running nose and conjunctivitis are some of the other symptoms that may occur along with sneezing. Airborne particles, air pollutants, alcohol, bacteria, dyes, food, spices dust, gases, fumes are the possible triggers for sneezing.
Treatments for sneezing
- Acupuncture is one of the treatment for treating sneezing.
- Decongestants is one of the OTC remedies for sneezing.
- Antihistamines and sodium cromoglycate are the medicines given for treating sneezing.
- Apply petroleum jelly around your nose
- Cider vinegar is a good decongestant. Mix cider vinegar and honey in hot water and drink, this will relieve from nasal congestion.
- Inhaling steam will help reducing sneezing. Steam will open up the respiratory track and make breathing easy.
Sleep problems
Insomnia is one of the allergy that people come across. Some people consider this as symptom but most of the time it is a result of an allergy. Anxiety and depression are some of the other symptoms along with sleeping disorder. Caffeine is one of the triggering element which results in sleeplessness. Many a times people drink coffee or even smoke to avoid sleep. Lot of drinking coffee or smoking is observed in places where work in night shift is involved. Smoking and coffee can result into many other problems. Smoking can cause breathing problems, pale skin and excessive smoking can cause cancer. Drinking lot of coffee means eating sugar as we always add sweeteners. Eating lot of sugar can result in obesity and it may also result in diabetes.
Treatments for sleeping problems
- Camomile oil, lavender oil, mandarin oil, marjoram oil, melissa oil, neroli oil, ylang ylang and sandalwood oil as some of the aromatherapy oils are used to cure Sleeping problem. These oils are used as aromatherapy to cure.
- Camomile tea, lemon balm, passionflower, valerian, vervain are some of the herbal teas which are used as remedies to cure or treat sleeping problems.
- Sulphur, Nux and Calcarea carbonica are some of the medicines used to treat sleeping problems in a homeopathic way.
- In over-the-counter remedies ( OTC ) most of the times the medicine used is antihistamine. Avoid drinking alcohol if consumed.
- Take hot bath before bed. This will relax you a little and make you fresh.
- Do regular exercise, the physical exertion will make your body tiered and you feel sleepy. This is very compulsory if your job work is just seating on the chair.
Skin Rash
Some times it is observed that we find red spots on the skin, those are nothing but rashes. Rashes may occur just in a particular area or the whole body. Rashes occur because of the environmental condition or may be because of an allergic reaction. Skin rashes also occur with other allergic reactions. Skin rashes can occur with eczema, psoriasis, urticaria and dermatitis. During such skin rashes people tend to scratch on their skin because of the itching sensation on the skin. But scratching the skin may even damage the skin more and may leave the marks on the skin permanently. Scratching can also lead to spreading infection on other part of the body. In such cases people need to take care of not scratching the skin and keep the finger nails as small as possible to minimize the infection to be spread.
There are many different type of rashes, and depending on the type of rash the treatment is given. Blisters, bullae, macules, papules, vesicles, dry rashes, itchy rashes or non-itchy rashes.
Stinging, itching, irritation and inflammation are some of the other symptoms that may occur during skin rash.
Airborne particles, cosmetics, insect bites, sesame, turpentine, wool, paint thinner, latex, herbs & spices, food colors, food preservatives, detergent, disinfectant, perfumes, lipsticks, eoisin, digalloyl trioleate, cedarwood oil, cinnamon bark, petitgrain oil, bithionol, dichlorophen, hexachlorophene, antioxidants, angelica, histamine, ACE inhibitors, aspirin, penicillin, tetracycline etc are some of the listed elements which can trigger skin rashes. There are many vegetables and fruits which can cause skin rashes, this needs to be determined by every person because it varies from person to person.
Skin rash Treatments
- Aloe vera cream or gel helps in relieve from pain because of salicylates, anti-inflammatory and pain killing properties. It soothes the skin and reduces irritation.
- Calendula cream and oil is also helpful for treating skin rashes, because of anti-inflammatory property.
- Cucumber juice also has the anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps to sooth the skin and helps in healing the wound.
- Olive oil is also used in treating skin rashes.
- If you feel like itching the skin, then take cool water in a bowl, soak a clean cloth in that water and apply it on the skin.
- Use appropriate sun screen lotions depending on your skin type, this will protect your skin from sunburn.
- As far as possible use glycerin based soap on your body.
- While drying up the body just dry it by patting on the skin with a soft towel instead of rubbing or scrubbing, this might damage the skin.
- Always bathe in lukewarm water then with hot water. Hot water may cause damage to your skin.
- Always wear loose cotton clothes. Wool and synthetic clothes are sometimes damages the skin and may cause rashes on the skin.
Palpitations
The person feels quite restless, sweating, uneasiness and feels irregular heart beat. A person may also feel Anxiety as one of the symptom for palpitation.
Caffeine, artificial food flavors and insulin are some of the triggering elements for palpitation.
Palpitation Causes
- Any activity which causes stress on heart can cause palpitation.
- Palpitation does exist as one of the symptoms to other problems or diseases. Palpitation is majorly related with people have some complaints regarding heart. But palpitation is most commonly seen with people having Anxiety.
- Palpitation is caused because of stomach upset, irregular eating habits, constipation and excessive smoking.
Palpitation Treatment
Lavender oil, Melissa oil, neroli oil and ylang ylang oil are used in for treatment for palpitation. You can put one of these oils in a vaporizer and put it in a room. The aroma of these oils will help in curing or treating palpitations. In many cases aroma helps us to come out of stress and tension. This treatment also does the same.
Herbal tea also helps curing palpitation. Chamomile, lime flower, passiflora, Valerian are the teas which helps in treating palpitation.
Calcium channel blockers, digitalis drugs, beta blockers, nux vomica are some other medicines provided by most of the physicians to treat palpitation.
