Eczema
Eczema is one of the skin conditions. The other name for eczema is “atopic dermatitis”. The name eczema is derived from Greek language meaning “to boil over”. It is observed that Eczema runs in families. It is also observed that eczema starts since childhood. Some children have eczema and still show the symptom of eczema for initial few years. Some children out grow eczema approx in their mid teens.
From studies it is seen that in UK approx 20% of the school going children have eczema. It is also found that 1 out of 12 adults in UK suffer from eczema. Eczema is a skin disease which is very sensitive. Though the sensitivity of the skin differs from person to person. Some are very sensitive to sunlight, some are sensitive to particular food, and some are sensitive to other allergies. The appearance of the skin is very unpleasant. But eczema is not contagious. People helping eczema patients need not worry about themselves getting infected by eczema.
The symptoms of eczema tend to start on the face, around the tummy, back of the knees and elbows. The eczema infection is sometimes intense and some mild. The treatment for eczema varies from person to person.
Eczema is linked with asthma. As mentioned above, eczema is sensitive to other allergies. It is seen that small babies suffering from eczema somehow also develop asthma. In some cases it is also seen that children suffering from eczema develop hay-fever also. As we have mentioned that eczema and asthma are linked, meaning if a person gets an asthma attack may be there would be some symptoms of eczema seen along with the symptoms of asthma. The eczema conditions get worse in humid weather. Eczema gets worse even because of stress and anger, as both are related to asthma. Person have to stay calm and try to relax in stress situations. Our body is interconnected with each other very tightly, one single disorder may result into other disease.
