Headaches

Headache is feeling of pain in the head or even at the back of the neck. There are many reasons because of which headaches can cause. It can be because of irregular sleep or irregular food intake or tension or stretching of the membranes around the brain or stretching of blood vessels. Headaches can also cause because of migraines, headache is also one of the symptom of migraine.

Anxiety, diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting etc are some of the other symptoms observed along with headaches.

Aubergines, avocado, beef, beer, broad beans, citrus fruit, tomato, yeast, bacteria, artificial fibres, phenylethylamine, tyramine, dust mites, preservatives, flavor enhancers, wool, amyl acetate, histamine etc are some of the possible triggers for headaches.

There are multiple remedies for headaches.

  • Camomile, clary sage, eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary and peppermint oils can be used for curing headaches. You can take a drop of the above said oils in a kerchief and inhale it. Or you can take 5 – 6 drops of oil in half a liter water, make sure that the water is cold, dip a cloth in the water and wring it. Place it on the head for few minutes then repeat the procedure.
    • Meadowsweet, skullcap, valerian, wood betony are some of the herbal teas which help in reliving from headache.
    • Chop the leaves of feverfew and add it to the food. It is one of the herbal remedies for headache.
    • Elderflower has one of the best anti-inflammatory properties. Elderflower helps in reliving headaches. Placing the Elderflower on the temple of the head and take deep breath.
  • Homeopathic remedies
    Actara racemosa is the medicine given for rear side of the brain along with headache. Belladonna, Natrium muriaticum, Thuja are the medicine given for severe headaches.
    Coffea, Gelsemium, Lachesis etc are medicine given for general headaches.
  • Ibuprofen, paracetamol are the pain relievers.
  • Some of self help tips for getting relief from headache.

    • Having hot bath or sauna bath may help in relieving from headache.
    • Getting good sleep may also help in reliving from headache. Because it is observed that most of the time headache is caused due to insufficient sleep.
    • Gentle head massage may also relive from headache. Massage helps increasing the blood flow and feels nice.
